Western Golf Association

RIA Golf Outing Tour  has partnered with the “Evans Scholars Foundation” (ESF) to support Evans Scholars (ES) with their career journeys.  The ESF awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to high-achieving CADDIES (list of colleges with houses) with limited financial means.

 WGAESF – Scholarship Chapters

Through your generosity and commitment to the Financial Planning Profession, we will be able to provide a select number of ES with the ability to register for “Amplified Wealth’s Externship” a virtual learning program providing participants with real-world experience in Financial Planning by working through practical “case studies” & “client scenarios”.  ES who complete the Externship will be better prepared for the future, in-person internships and full-time opportunities in the Financial Advisory industry.

The Evans Scholars Foundation (ESF) awards full tuition and housing scholarships to high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. Established in 1930 by the Western Golf Association (WGA) and celebrated amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr., the Foundation oversees the nation’s largest scholarship program for caddies.

Evans Scholars attend one of 28 leading universities nationwide where they live together in Scholarship Houses or campus housing. A record 1,260 Evans Scholars are enrolled for the 2025-26 academic year. The Evans Scholarship value is $125,000.

With more families struggling to pay for college and a record number of caddies applying for the Evans Scholarship, Foundation leaders are expanding the Program nationwide. Annual program costs this year are $41 million.

To qualify, caddies must be nominated by their club and meet four requirements:

  • Strong caddie record: Applicants must have caddied, successfully and regularly, for a minimum of two years and are expected to caddie at their sponsoring club the year they apply for the Scholarship.
  • Excellent academics: Applicants must have completed their junior year of high school with above a B average in college preparatory courses.
  • Demonstrated financial need: Applicants must clearly have a need for financial assistance.
  • Outstanding character: Applicants must be outstanding in character, integrity and leadership.

Evans Scholars live and work together in community, with each chapter electing its own officers, running social and service activities and participating in campus programs, earning a reputation for scholastic achievement and excellence in community service.  Evans Scholars hold an average 3.3 cumulative GPA with 98% graduating within 4 years.
